Whether it’s history or hiking, there is something for everyone to enjoy in the Burlington County Parks System! Created in 2000, the Park System continues to grow. With over 2,100 acres of land currently slated for parkland development and more to come, the residents of Burlington County will soon be able to enjoy the trails, recreational water access, picnic facilities, and play areas that are planned close to home. Preserving our county’s heritage and making that history come alive is also a key mission of the Board of Chosen Freeholders through the Park System. Preservation and restoration work at Historic Smithville Park will provide visitors with a window into the Industrial Revolution and the Historic Prison Museum tells the story of an intriguing and education-filled National Historic Landmark. Combine this with a variety of arts and cultural programming provided by our Cultural and Heritage Office, and you truly can’t miss an opportunity to enjoy yourself.
