Firearms Application Information
Firearms related applications may be picked up at the Delanco Police Department between the hours of 9:30 AM and 3:30 PM Monday through Friday. Most of the necessary forms are also available on the New Jersey State Police website, http://www.state.nj.us/njsp/info/forms.html. The forms on the website are in PDF format and can be completed and printed directly from the website, or can be printed and then completed. In either instance please do not sign the forms until they are turned into the Police Department. At that time you will be asked to sign the forms in the presence of a Police Officer. You will be asked to present at least two forms of identification. One form of identification should be a valid New Jersey Drivers License. All applicants submitting to the Delanco Police Department must be residents of Delanco Township.
The application process will require a criminal background check to be conducted. This will be done by the submission of fingerprints. The fee for the fingerprinting is $60.25 and payment must bemade at the time of service. The payment must be posted by certified check or money order, and madepayable to the New Jersey State Police - S.B.I. An applicant that has previously been fingerprinted for firearms purposes may have a criminal history background check conducted by submitting a Request for Criminal History Record Information For a Non-Criminal Justice Purpose (Form SBI-212A) through the Delanco Police Department. The fee for this is $18.00, and payment must be posted at the time of submission by certified check or money order, and made payable to the New Jersey State Police - S.B.I.
The firearms application process can be lengthy from beginning to end. Please allow 8 to 12 weeks for this application process to be completed.

* Must be at least 21 years of age * Application to Purchase a Handgun (STS-33) * Request for Criminal History Record Information For a Non-Criminal Justice Purpose (Form SBI-212A) * Consent for Mental Health Record Search, Part 1 (Form SP-66) (2 Copies) * Fee for each permit of $2.00, paid by cash, certified check or money order made payable to Township of Delanco * Certified check or money order in the amount of $18.00 made payable to the New Jersey State Police - S.B.I Note: In certain circumstances the Request for Criminal History Record Information (form SBI-212A) will not be used, and the applicant will be fingerprinted on the NJ State Applicant Fingerprint Card (Form SBI-19) and FBI Applicant Fingerprint Card (Form FD- 258). When this is the case a certified check or money order in the amount of $60.25 made payable to the New Jersey State Police - S.B.I will be required.
Request for a Duplicate Firearms Purchaser Identification Card
* Application for a Duplicate Firearms Purchaser Identification Card (Form STS-3) * Request for Criminal History Record Information For a Non-Criminal Justice Purpose (Form SBI-212A) * Consent for Mental Health Record Search, Part 1 (Form SP-66) (2 Copies) * Old Firearms Purchaser Identification Card turned in with the other forms * No fee to the Township of Delanco * Certified check or money order in the amount of $18.00 made payable to the New Jersey State Police - S.B.I. Note: In certain circumstances the Request for Criminal History Record Information (form SBI-212A) will not be used, and the applicant will be fingerprinted on the NJ State Applicant Fingerprint Card (Form SBI-19) and FBI Applicant Fingerprint Card (Form FD-258). When this is the case a certified check or money order in the amount of $60.25 made payable to the New Jersey State Police - S.B.I will be required.
Request for Permit to Carry a Handgun
* Must be at least 21 years of age * Application For Permit to Carry Handgun (Form SP-642) * Four photographs, 1 Y2" x 1 Y2" square * Consent for Mental Health Record Search, Part 1 (Form SP-66) (2 Copies) * NJ State Applicant Fingerprint Card (Form SBI-19) * FBI Applicant Fingerprint Card (Form FD-258) *The Applicant must submit a Notarized Certification (Letter) of need, specific in content, under oath which shall specify in detail the urgent necessity for self-protection, as evidenced by specific threats or previous attacks, which demonstrates a special danger to the Applicant's life that cannot be avoided by means other than by issuance of a permit to carry a handgun. Where possible the Applicant shall corroborate the existence of any specific threats or previous attacks by reference to reports of such incidents to the appropriate Law Enforcement Agencies. * The Applicant shall list a complete description of each handgun he/she intends to carry. * A fee of $20.00 paid by certified check or money order made payable to State of New Jersey * Certified check or money order in the amount of $60.25 made payable to the New Jersey State Police - S.B.I * There are additional requirements that must be completed. Please contact the Detective Bureau during normal business hours.
New Jersey Voluntary Registration of Firearms:
* State of NJ-Voluntary Form of Firearms Registration (Form SP-650) * No fee * Personal Identification * Background investigation will be conducted on all Applicants.
