4/19/2011 - Sheriff's Department accepting county residents for Community Emergency Response Team

The Burlington County Sheriff's Department will train volunteers to assist in emergencies in their communities.  Sheriff Jean Stanfield is accepting county residents interested in becoming members of the growing Community Emergency Response Team, a corps of volunteers trained to protect and aid during emergencies and natural and man-made disasters.

Nine free training sessions, focusing on everything from fire safety to light search and rescue to terrorism alerts, will be offered between April 12 and May 18.  All classes will be held from 6:30 to 9:00pm at the Emergency Services Training Center on Academy Drive in Westampton.

Graduation and a disaster simulation will be held at the May 18 session.
